Restorative Dentistry
Redmond, OR

Close up of a smiling mouth with beautiful white, straight teethOver the years we have seen a significant decrease in the incidence of tooth decay thanks to the use of fluoride and an increased patient awareness about the dangers of periodontal disease. However, regardless of our every effort to maintain optimal oral health, tooth decay can still ensue. Not only that, but things like infection and injury can also damage the teeth and thus require treatment. Restorative dentistry is aimed at restoring full function and aesthetic appeal to the natural smile.

Thanks to much improved techniques and technological advancements in the practice of restorative dentistry there are now more options than ever for restoring your smile back to its original beauty. If you require restorative dentistry to restore the appearance, shape and function of a missing tooth or teeth you can rest assured that Dr. Primley will present all relevant restoration options available to you; and further take his time in helping you to choose the solution that is best for you.

At Caldera Dental Group, care and comfort are our priorities and we will always recommend the treatment options that offer you the best of both. Thanks to modern advancements in the area of restorative dentistry we now have many treatment options available to you. Some of these options include:

Dental Crown

Dental crowns are used to restore decayed or cracked teeth. A crown is a sort of cap that is used to encase the damaged tooth, restoring it to its natural size and shape.

Scaling and Root Planing

If you are showing signs of periodontitis, we recommend scaling and root planing procedure. During the root planing, we will smooth any rough surfaces of your roots to discourage bacteria and plaque from reestablishing below the gums. This also allows your gums to properly heal and reattach to the tooth more firmly. The procedure may take one or more appointments to complete.

Dental Bridge

A dental bridge is a non-removable dental appliance used to restore function and appearance to the mouth. Dental bridges offer a sturdy, durable, comfortable and economical solution to replacing a missing tooth or teeth.

Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom Teeth can cause problems for patients that do not have a wide enough ridge. When they come through correctly, wisdom teeth can help you chew tougher foods. When they do not, they can have severe consequences for the rest of your teeth.

Inlays and Onlays

Inlays and onlays are what are known as indirect fillings. Unlike amalgam and composite resin, which are cured inside the tooth, these fillings are created in a dental lab from impressions of the affected tooth. They are designed to strengthen the tooth.

Dentures

Dentures come in either full or partial sets. They are a removable appliance that is held into place by way of existing healthy teeth, most often with the help of wires or clasps. Partial dentures are used if only a few teeth are missing and a full denture is used when all of the teeth are missing. A full (or complete) denture is a removable prosthesis that contains white plastic teeth and a pink gum-colored plastic base. The prosthesis rests on the gum ridge. In order to wear a full or complete denture all of the teeth must be removed.

Dental Implants

A dental implant is a metal device that is surgically inserted directly into the jaw bone. The metal device acts as a root (or post) to which a dental crown is then added. Dental implants offer the most natural looking and feeling restoration option available, but are also the priciest.

Tooth Colored Fillings

Tooth colored fillings are fillings that are tinted to blend with the remaining natural tooth.

Root Canal Therapy

Root canals are performed in an effort to save a tooth that has become infected and that would otherwise require extraction.

TMJ Treatment

TMJ disorder is a broad term that encompasses a variety of different issues that affect the health and function of the TMJ and the muscles, ligaments, and bones that are associated with them. All of these issues can affect the functions of your mouth. They can also significantly impact your quality of life, and cause unbearable pain.

Tooth Extraction

Teeth extractions are a fairly common dental procedure and are nothing to be scared of. One thing that we like to make our patients aware of when they are faced with losing a tooth is our tooth replacement options.
